The Able Label

The Able Label has a new range of womenswear clothing specifically designed for those with dressing difficulties. Arthritis, stroke and the effects of ageing can make dressing a daily challenge. This collection is the product of extensive research and develop- ment and aims to boost confidence.

Inspired by her grandmother, who had difficulties dressing due to Parkinson’s, The Able Label founder, Katie Ellis, sought to address some of the day-to-day issues that can arise for women with reduced dexterity, impaired mobility or cognitive difficulties, satisfying their desire to remain stylish and keep their identity whilst staying independent.

Katie used her experience as a fashion buyer at the White Stuff clothing and combined this with her research of the challenges faced by some women and caregivers via focus groups to design the range. With the support of Sally Bailey, former Ceo of White Stuff and an ex-brand director at Arcadia, Katie has launched the range for a market she feels is ‘underserviced in terms of stylish yet suitable clothing solutions’. It is not just the clothes’ wearers who benefit – care-givers and healthcare professionals are also clamouring for these stylish and adaptive designs that are easier and safer to use.

The Able Label womenswear range:

  • Long-sleeved cardigans with pretty designs make ideal layering pieces for warmth. Long zips at cuffs and velcro fastening at front provide easy access.
  • Shirts with rolled tab hooks and loop-fastening closures with beautiful pleats at waist for a feminine touch.
  • Wrap-style tops and dresses that fully open and so omit the need for over-the-head dressing. Skirts that also fully open in a wrap-style make dressing quicker, easier and safer for self and assisted dressing.
  • High-waisted trousers that come in two leg lengths with no fastenings at waist and a flattering rolled detail at waistband.
  • All designs have a unique ‘easy fasten’ system and are available in natural, breathable fabric with additional stretch for extra comfort.
  • The coloured tape inside armholes makes them easier to find and get into.
  • All styles are available in sizes 8-22.
  •  Prices start at £25, clothing is eligible for VAT relief, plus 10% off first order.
  • Magnetic jewellery, to complete the look, is also available.
