Cuba

Jet off to colourful, incredible Cuba, this year’s hot destination
Havana Short Break
The NH Capri La Habana reopened last year following a substantial refurbishment, and it’s gorgeous. Like the Hotel Nacional and the Hotel Riviera, the Capri is one of Havana’s most iconic buildings, and was a prerevolution playground for Hollywood stars and American gangsters – it gets a mention in The Godfather.

The new 220-room hotel is packed with 1950s character, and has an amazing rooftop pool. It’s close to La Rampa art and craft market, and other must-sees are a short taxi ride away.

Western & Oriental offers a four-night stay at the NH Capri from £960 per person, including B&B and Virgin Atlantic flights; until July: 020-7666 1234, www.westernoriental.com

Deep in Cuba
If you fancy a more detailed exploration, Steppes Travel’s 13-day Cuba In-depth holiday includes a ride along Havana’s streets in a vintage open-top car and trips to the Bay of Pigs, site of the infamous US-backed invasion in 1961, and the Zapata Peninsula, great for birdwatching. You’ll also visit Trinidad, a mini Havana with great live music, stay with a local family and enjoy the beaches of Cayo Santa Maria, an island off the north coast.

Cuba In-depth Including Trinidad & Santa Maria costs from £3,295 per person, including B&B and flights: 0843-778 9926, www.steppestravel.com
