Farewell to Debo

Deborah, the Dowager Duchess, has passed away aged 94.

Her son, the Duke of Devonshire, today announced the death of his mother in a statement from Chatsworth House, the family's stately home. He said: 'It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Deborah, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, has passed away peacefully this morning.'

Deborah was the last surviving Mitford sister. During her lifetime she socialised with Sir Winston Churchill, was painted by Lucian Freud, and even took tea with Hitler along with her sister, Unity.

Her memoirs, Wait For Me: Memoirs of the Youngest Mitford Sister, were published in 2010.

The Lady remembers her fondly and wishes all her friends and family the deepest condolences.
