FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Britt Ekland

…is an actress and model. She lives between Los Angeles and Sweden with her dog Tequila.
What are you working on at the moment?
Getting over food poisoning!

When are you at your happiest?
I am always happiest when I am working, appreciated and paid.

What is your greatest fear?
At my age and with my life, there’s very little left to fear.

What is your earliest memory?
Crosscountry skiing with my mother and my brothers in Åre, a very famous ski resort in Sweden, and having to ski following a track – being quite a little fatty then, I hated it. The only relief came when we stopped to rest and my mother gave us oranges before starting again. Of course a couple of years later, I became an avid slalom and downhill skier.

What do you most dislike about yourself?
Oh, I have done plenty of disliking myself over the years, but enough is enough; now I really like myself.

Who has been your greatest influence?
No one but my mother. However, I knew early on that I could never be a mother like her, as she was an angel.

What is your most treasured possession?
I would say Tequila, my Chihuahua. But as you can’t own another living being, I would say my mother’s pearl necklace from 1940, which I always wear when I’m flying.

What trait do you most deplore in others?
Disrespect and dishonesty.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
As I said before, I like myself!

What is your favourite book?
Any book written by Michael Connelly.

first-imp-590-2Britt's bowled over by books by Michael Connelly, the film Amadeus, music by the Stray Cats and simple food

What is your favourite film?
Amadeus.

What is your favourite piece of music?
There is so much to choose from it’s very hard, as music is such a big part of my life. But I would say anything by the Stray Cats – well, it helps that I was married to Slim Jim Phantom.

What is your favourite meal?
I’m not a ‘foodie’… as long as I can see what’s on the plate and it is clean, uncomplicated and gluten-free. I’ll eat anything bar liver and cauliflower.

Who would you most like to come to dinner?
I don’t give dinner parties and I probably have already dined with most of the people I wanted to.

What is the nastiest thing anyone has ever said to you?
No one has ever said anything nasty to me, why should they? I am a very nice, kind person and I don’t now, and never did, surround myself with people of that type.

Do you believe in aliens?
Certainly not. I believe in facts.

What is your secret vice?
I don’t have to be secret about my vices, as I have none, unless a glass of good rosé counts.

Do you write thank-you notes?
Yes, of course. I was well brought up with good manners.

Which phrase do you most overuse?
‘Hang on a bit!’

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
I have everything I could possibly need or want but being healthy is always a good thing.

Can you tell us one thing people might not know about you?
Are you kidding me? I’m Britt Ekland and I have lived my life in a fishbowl since I was 20. I’m like an open book.

What would you like your epitaph to read?
‘Get on with it!’
