DURHAM DELIGHT
Seaham Hall’s Serenity Spa has been awarded Five Luxury Bubbles – one of only six UK spas to receive this rating – by the Good Spa Guide. The hotel, on a clifftop on Durham’s Heritage Coast, has undergone a £2.5m refurbishment, and the 44,000 sq ft spa has a 20-metre pool, 17 therapy rooms, a hammam, ice fountain, sanarium with crystal light therapy, black granite steam room with amethyst crystal and outdoor hot tubs. Therapists offer a wide range of treatments, many based on ancient principles from Asia, such as Ayurveda, and using organic products. For example, the Abhyanga Massage, £85 for 60 minutes, is said to clear stagnant energy and restore the flow of ‘Prana’, the life force that stimulates your body’s vital energy.
