Hidden Hollywood

As Warner Bros turns 90, these rare, archive pictures take a fresh look at the world's biggest stars
Charlton Heston and Stephen Boyd fool around on a Vespa on the set of Ben-Hur. Julie Christie takes a catnap on the snowy set of Doctor Zhivago. Cary Grant entertains a smirking Alfred Hitchcock during the filming of North By Northwest. Just a handful of the extraordinary, deeply revealing images newly released by Warner Bros as the film studio celebrates its 90th birthday.

Until now, the company’s extensive photo archive has remained largely under lock and key – so these rare images offer a vivid insight into what the stars were getting up to when the cameras stopped rolling. In an industry in which stars are too often kept at arm’s length, these images reveal the personal, private side of some of the world’s most iconic actors.
