Bottomless brunches are becoming increasingly popular in London and around the rest of the UK. Restaurants are offering afternoon 'slots' of around 90 minutes where you and your guests choose 1-3 dishes from a set menu and are able to drink unlimited amounts of tipple or mocktails. There is typically a set price per head at around £25-£40 on average (depending on the restaurant). They're great for celebrations and get togethers, and because they are mid-day to afternoon, you can easily make evening plans after or go home for an early snooze!

The #GourmetGirls headed to KuPP, a Scandinavian style all-day café and bar in Paddington to try their Bottomless Smorgasbord Weekend Brunch menu. At £30 a head, KuPP offers 90 minutes of unlimited Smorgasbord refills alongside bottomless Czech Pilsner Krusovice beer, herbal and spice infused Aquavit cocktails or Scandi Collins. Smorgasbord options include the Fiske Bord, the KuPP Bord, the Veggie Bord and the Smokin Roast board, all with a selection of either cold cut meats, cheeses, fishes, veggies, and other Scandinavian-like nibbles.

The restaurant ambiance was very lively and cheery on a Saturday as live sports was being projected onto a big screen and parties drank and chatted merrily around my guest and I. We were seated in a big, comfortable space overlooking a canal, which was nice to people watch as we browsed the menu. I decided to try the KuPP bord first which included house smoked pork meatballs, potted rabbit, chorizo sausage roll, Västerbotten cheese, KuPP potato salad, pickled vegetables, sourdough & Leksands Knacker crispbread.

My guest picked the seafood-based Fiske Bord: homecured Norwegian gravadlax, Atlantic prawn Skagen, home smoked trout, Hansen & Lydersen smoked salmon, Kupp potato salad, roasted beetroot, pickled vegetables, rye bread & Leksands Knacker crispbread. What was nice about these boards wasn't just the tapas-like size, but also the unlimited availability during the 90 minutes. You could try each of the four boards if you could manage to fit all that food in an hour and a half, but I thought that that was genuine value for £30.

I decided to stick with the lemon-infused Scandi Collins cocktails for the brunch, while my guest opted for Bloody Mary's. I thought the cocktails were tasty, although they could've used a bit more zest. The Bloody Mary was very flavourful for my guest, who decided to sip on them for the rest of the brunch. Having eaten lunch earlier in the day (we were booked into a 3pm slot), I only managed to get through one KuPP Smorgasbord, but I found it quite tasty overall. There was a nice array of sweet and salty from the meatball sauce to the cheeses, ham and toasted bread. If you hadn't eaten previously, I do believe you'd have to get through a few 'bord' refills to balance the drinks.

The wait staff were very attentive with drink replenishing, although perhaps a little slower with food (understandably so with the amount of guests eating in the premises that day). My guest and I were kindly allowed to sit around and chat for a while as it was so cold and rainy outside that day, so we took full advantage of that while digesting the food and extra drinks we had stocked up from our 90 minutes!
