What are you working on at the moment?
I continue to film for Countryfile every Monday and Tuesday and my second book, Like Farmer, Like Son, has just been released. Back on the farm we have just started shearing and give daily demonstrations at the Cotswold Farm Park. On the arable side we are in the process of fertilising crops to encourage growth.

When were you at your happiest?
I’m generally a very happy person and I have fond memories from my childhood, but my 20s were a great time of life – at agricultural college, travelling the world and then starting work on the farm, but still having time to play rugby for Stow-on-the-Wold.

What is your greatest fear?
My children suffering serious illness or injury.

What is your earliest memory?
Helping my dad move ewes and lambs from the sheds out onto the grass.

What do you most dislike about yourself?
I can be very forgetful because I’m so busy.

Who has been your greatest influence?
My dad, who was a wonderful father, but also a forwardthinking entrepreneur in farming.

What is your most treasured possession?
A set of platinum and diamond cufflinks that were given to my grandfather by King George VI.

What trait do you most deplore in others?
Arrogance.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
I’m not that self-conscious, but I know there’s lots of room for improvement.

What is your favourite book?
The Gruffalo. ‘When I was young I wanted to be a cowboy’

Once you’re in the public eye you can become a target for unfounded abuse from strangers. This doesn’t happen face to face but tends to come via social media.

There must be some form of life on another planet, but probably not in the form of aliens and how we portray them.

I do try to, as time allows, but I know I should do more.

‘A man who loved his family and life. May he rest in peace.’
