Lazy Autumn days are here and the best way to enjoy a leisurely Saturday is to savour a delicious brunch. Roast in Borough Market invites you to relax, drink, eat and enjoy a fabulous menu offering the best of British ingredients. Situated above the busy market stalls, Roast is bright and inviting with window tables offering views of the bustling activities below.

Our brunch began with refreshing Elderflower Mojitos, served with a variety of breads from Bread Ahead Bakery which we could see from the window. Browsing the extensive menu, we settled on Lobster Benedict, creamed spinach with nutmeg and roasted potatoes. The plates soon arrived, hot and well prepared: freshly baked crumpets topped with perfectly poached eggs, spinach, lobster meat and a lovely béchamel sauce.. The accompanying potatoes had a nice crunchy finish and the field picked creamed spinach was not overcooked.

Roast has agreeable opening hours which means that breakfast, lunch, early evening drinks and dinner are available. You can also pop in for coffee. If you're looking for a meal, try any dish that suits your fancy, from suckling pig, beef, poultry, lamb, fish and shellfish sourced from "...purveyors that are incredibly passionate about what they are doing".

Vegetarians are not forgotten either- fresh local vegetables are attractively featured. There is an immense wine list and creatively mixed cocktails are available. Roast guarantees, in any case, that the ingredients in their dishes did not travel far. The results are a tantalising menu in delightful surroundings. The only difficulty is deciding what to choose!
