JKRowling wins permission to build magical tree houses
The author JK Rowling has won permission to build two Hogwarts –style tree houses in her garden, despite protests from neighbours. The Harry Potter creator plans to build the two-storey structures for her children David, nine, and Kenzie, seven, in the grounds of her 17th century Edinburgh mansion. Rowling bought the 33- room mansion for just over £2 million 2 years ago.

Pets will now be able to fly first class with their owners
Pampered dogs and cats will now have the opportunity to travel in their own seats in the cabin next to their owners, reports reveal. The service is being offered by Victor, a private jet charter company, and its starting price for this service is currently at £1,250. Clive Jackson, the founder of Victor, said: ‘A happy dog makes a happy owner.’  Victor airline will launch this service this week, and is currently the only commercial airline to offer such service.

The spotlight shines on the tiny
Today seems to be the day to celebrate the small! Photos of the first meeting between the smallest man and woman have been released today, as well as pictures of Britain’s smallest dog. The 72 and 18 year-old Guinness Book of Record holders celebrated the organisations which made them famous, whilst the little puppy is reported to be so small that it can comfortably fit on an iPhone.

The escapades of former Welsh police inspector, Gwilym Williams, have been revealed by John Humphries in his book Spying For Hitler. Gwilym Williams from Swansea was sent to Belgium in 1939, to infiltrate the Abwehr -Hitler’s spy service .  The author of the book was amazed to discover Mr Williams story , who died at 69 , and commented that Mr Williams  'had the Abwehr jumping through hoops and helped us win the intelligence war.’

London puts on a dazzling Paralympics Opening Ceremony
The Paralympics games lifted spirits last night, as London put on a dazzling Paralympics Opening Ceremony.  Millions across the world tuned in to watch the memorable show, entitled ‘Enlightenment’, unfold. Viewers were treated to spectacular performance that included the Queen, Beverley Knight and celebrated physicist Professor Stephen Hawking.
