South Devon’s prettiest and newest gardens will open for guests at the Thurlestone Hotel as part of its South Devon Gardens Tour (15-20 May). Over five days, guests will visit Heathercombe in a tranquil wood on Dartmoor and Mothecombe Gardens in a picturesque village; the Cider House, set in the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; and Coleton Fishacre, Lukesland and Garden House.

The Thurlestone Hotel, a four-star property in its own extensive gardens, has 65 rooms and suites, a spa and restaurant. The holiday costs from £750 per person based on two people sharing and includes breakfast, dinner, Devonshire cream tea on arrival, welcome cocktails, tours of six gardens with transport, lunches, afternoon teas and entrance fees.

Bedruth break

Set into the cliff-top overlooking the beautiful beach at Mawgan Porth, Cornwall, the family-friendly, chic hotel Bedruthan is offering special two-night breaks in April and May from just £298 for two people. Luxury five-star inn, the Cary Arms, in Devon’s Babbacombe Bay, will unveil six chic Beach Huts, two luxurious Beach Suites and a luxury spa in May. The huts and suites will each sleep two and have stunning views across Lyme Bay to Portland Bill. The new Cary Spa will include a glass-fronted pool and sunbathing deck with more great views. Due to open in April, Sands Studio is a luxurious onebedroom apartment located in Downalong, the oldest residential area of St Ives.
