Peplum dress was 2012's most wanted fashion item

The figure enhancing peplum dress was the most searched for fashion item last year, the UK’s leading independent celebrity fashion website has revealed.

Based on the most frequently searched-for items on site in the past twelve months the peplum proved even more popular than the onsie.

The search statistics, revealed by www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, looked into the clothing styles that were most frequently searched for by fashion-fans.

According to the results, the peplum trend was 2012’s most popular, closely followed by onesies and leather shorts.

MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk's top 10 most wanted fashion items of 2012 were:

1. ‘Peplum’ dress
2. Onesie
3. Leather shorts
4. Jewelled/detailed blouse
5. Maxi dress
6. Knee-high boots
7. Quilted jacket
8. Ugg Boots
9. Military Jacket
10. Crop top

Furthermore, the site also revealed the trends that have accumulated the highest number of searches in 2013 so far, with January’s most-wanted items being:

1. Chunky knitwear
2. Leather ankle boots
3. Fake fur jacket
4. Peter Pan collar blouse
5. Leather leggings

Bobby Malpass, editor at MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, said: "The ‘peplum’ craze was huge last year, so it’s no surprise that the flattering dress topped our search charts. A dress in this style can help conceal lumps and bumps to create a flawless silhouette which is perfect for any figure – it’s a wonder it took until 2012 for the trend to really catch on!

“It’s interesting that the critically-panned onesie was the second most searched-for item throughout last year, and proof that comfort can often take precedence over what the style bible says. Onesies were definitely a huge hit last year, and with this cold weather, I imagine they’ll be worn up and down the country!”
