Cocktails at Archer Street

Archer Street, nestled in the heart of Soho, is a sophisticated cocktail longue with a twist. Comprised of two bars, Archer Street is spacious and elegant, but always brimming with customers eager to revel amongst the entertainment- singing bar staff performing all the chart toppers from the comforts of your table top.

Archer Street was the London Orchestral Association’s headquarters in London’s West End in the 1920’s, a hub for musicians and theatre performers alike to come together to socialise. This element has carried through to the modern day Archer Street, as staff are trained West End performers who know exactly how to get a crowd on their feet.

My guest and I arrived and were ushered through the packed bar full of customers meeting for post work drinks, birthdays, or simply coming together for a social gathering.  Handed the extensive seasonal cocktail list, we opted for the Sloe Hands (Sloe Plymouth Gin, Pinot Noir and Grand Marnier mixed with cranberry juice, prickly pear liquor, lime juice, berries and mint spring dusted with icing sugar) and ‘Ketel’ One Way Or Another (Ketel One, Byrrh and Redcurrant syrup shaken with Crème de Cassis, lemon juice, cranberry, burlesque bitters and served in a coupe with a lemon twist). Cocktails aren’t cheap, but the quality of the bar begets the price list.

Charcuterie and cheese platters are on offer for nibbles, but we stuck to cocktails for the evening. We were serenaded with the likes of classics songs to contemporary hits that had the whole bar singing along, and if you stay long enough, you’re more than likely to make a friend. If you’d like to keep the party going, the Piste bar in Archer St’s basement (replicating an après-ski lodge) is open until May with festive cocktails and loungers lined with fur pelts. Luxurious and cosy!
