Review: The Muscle Whisperer

If you've gone down the medical route with little success when it comes to back pain, try the Muscle Whisperer
What causes your back ache? Bad posture, sitting at a desk for extended periods of time? According to Sophia Kupse, a holistic practitioner, that pain, especially back pain is linked to physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

On my visit to Sophia (to her Harley Street clinic) I honestly had no idea what to expect.

After a consultation with Sophia she begins my treatment. Whilst on the couch she explains to me that the back is split into two fields of energy, the left hand side female, the right male. So any traumas on the right for example are linked to emotional event that happened between you and a male in your past.

She uses Langellotti Tri-Therapy (LT Therapy), a three-way treatment using massage, volcanic heat (hot stones) and ice marble to release physical and emotional stress and trauma in the neck and back.

Different areas of the back are also linked to different people, family, close friends etc.

As she finds a knot (ones in the neck and shoulders can be linked to pain elsewhere in the body) she will ask questions to try and discover the root of that problem. The size, depth and texture of the knot or muscle blockage helps Sophia to estimate how long it's been there and who created. For example pain in the right shoulder would relate to a close female/female family member.

As with any holistic treatment you have to be aware that it can be an emotional experience and the same goes for this treatment. When Sophia finds a problem area, you don't have to talk about what you think might be potentially causing it, but the age old saying, a problem shared is a problem halved, really does stand true here.

Being one of life's criers, when Sophia warned me that the session can be a very emotional experience I did think I would shed a tear at some point. Without going into too much detail, I was amazed that just from my back she could tell what emotional issues I had been through.

Once the session was over and I'd gone a fair way through a box of Kleenex, I wasn't really sure how I felt. Sore for one thing. Don't go to the Muscle Whisperer expecting a relaxing massage, it felt like my back had done ten rounds with Tyson. Despite that, in a strange way I felt relieve.

We all like to indulge in a girly gossip over wine, but blurting everything out, how you feel about an ex or any other issue you hold onto, to a complete stranger was not only quite easy but felt amazing.

If you have tried medical treatments for your back pain and had no results, The Muscle Whisperer is definitely worth a visit.
