Registering and information on DBS

‘Do I have enough experience to register with The Lady?’

Usually our clients want staff with a minimum of two years’ experience in any given role. It’s best to speak to one of our recruitment team directly and we can work out the best avenue for you to take. Take a look at our jobs board and contact us for further information on setting up your account profile.

'What is the process when I apply for a job on the jobs board?'

If you apply for one of The Lady Recruits jobs, you will recieve a response from a member of our recruitment team who will arrange further details such as a skype interview. It is sensible to ensure you have your CV ready and up to date before this happens. If you apply for a job that is advertised on our jobs board by an external client the communication should be between the client and yourself.

Please see our jobs board here

‘What is a DBS and why do I need one?’

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is there to ensure that unsuitable people are prevented from working in any job with access to vulnerable groups such as children, the disabled and the elderly. The Basic DBS contains a list of any unspent criminal convictions and conditional cautions (ROA 1974). If you are applying for a job that might involve working with vulnerable people, you will be required to provide a new DBS certificate to both the recruiter and the employer.

To become a Nanny through The Lady Recruits you will be required to have a valid Enhanced DBS.

There are three levels of criminal record check:

  • Basic
  • Standard
  • Enhanced

For some of our positions we may ask for a candidate to provide a Basic or Enhanced DBS which costs £25 to £44, respectively and is processed within around two to eight weeks. If you’re living and working in England or Wales, you can apply through the GOV.UK website where you will find all the necessary information.

The Lady's Recruitment Team are here to help you through each step in finding your perfect job. We provide a first class service which will take you from designing the best CV to placing you in your new role.
