The old manor house dates back to the late 19th century, and in its reincarnation has 18 bedrooms and suites, each with views over the countryside, with window seats or comfortable sofas and armchairs.

Two Michelin-star chef Michael Caines is overseeing Palé Hall’s cuisine, with three dining areas – grand main dining room, Venetian-themed alternative dining room and library – serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Luxury safari
Wilderness Safaris has rebuilt and revamped Ruckomechi Camp in its private concession in Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe, home to hippos, elephants, buffalos, lions and leopards. With 10 spacious tented suites – two are family suites – the camp, which opened in May, enjoys views of the Zambezi and has central dining, bar and lounge areas, pool, a star-gazing deck and an outdoor spa bath.
Activities include game drives, boating, canoeing, fishing and walks. Yellow Zebra Safaris will build the package for you and offers four nights all-inclusive from £3,500 per person (flights included); most guests add on a few nights at another camp, such as Linkwasha Camp in Hwange National Park.

Greek escape
Marpunta Village Club is the latest in the Santikos Collection of resorts, offering guests a tranquil Greek island escape on Alonnisos in the Aegean Sea east of mainland Greece.

Due to open in November, boutique resort Milaidhoo Island Maldives, set in 13 acres of a Unesco Biosphere Reserve in the Baa Atoll region, has 50 villas and three restaurants. Guests can enjoy ‘Milaidhoo Moments’, featuring activities such as cookery lessons, fishing and dhoni boat building.
